My dear Brothers and Sisters,
As your parish priest, my heart is filled with gratitude, joy and humility. I want
to thank God for His immeasurable mercy and grace. It is through His steadfast
love we gather as one community in faith and love.
Next year, our beloved St. Paul Catholic Church, our parish will reach a historic
milestone. We are officially celebrating our 100th anniversary! For a century our
Church has stood as a beacon of faith, hope and love in this corner of Amagasaki.
Generations of believers coming from all corners of the world have gathered
under our roof to encounter Christ in the sacraments and warm presence of
community. Indeed, they find comfort and strength in times of trials through
life-giving activities, like formation, recollection and home visitation. Those who
come to our Church have found a resting place for their souls.
Our 100th anniversary is a Jubilee year, and it will commence on November this
year. Our Jubilee will be a year-long celebration. It is a holy year for us. A Jubilee
has always been a time of grace, renewal, mercy, gratitude, joy and social
significance in the Church. Most of all, this Jubilee is a time to pray and reflect
as our community, leading to a realization that there will be no more walls, no
more closed doors among ourselves for we are one family in Christ.
As we embark on this Jubilee year, our theme is “Gratitude for the Past… Zeal
for the Future.” This theme bridges our history with our future.
Over the coming months, we will host several events, liturgical celebrations,
community activities, and formation opportunities. I invite every single member
of our parish—from the eldest among us to the youngest or newest member to
participate fully.
Let us celebrate this Jubilee with immense joy. May our gratitude
for the past compel us to look toward the future with zeal,
following the example of our patron, St. Paul, the Apostle to the
Gentiles.
