Catholic Masses follow the same universal format worldwide, regardless of the language used.
The Mass originates from the "Last Supper," where Jesus shared a meal with His disciples. Centered on the "Liturgy of the Eucharist," the Mass is structured as follows:
| Introductory Rites | The priest and ministers approach the altar accompanied by a hymn. This includes the Penitential Act and a hymn of praise to God. |
|---|---|
| Liturgy of the Word | This includes readings from the Bible and the priest's homily. The scripture readings are the same worldwide. |
| Liturgy of the Eucharist | This is the most important part. The bread and wine (chalice) are brought to the altar; this section includes various prayers, the Consecration, and finally, Holy Communion. |
| Concluding Rites | The priest gives the final blessing and dismissal, bringing the Mass to a close. |
Please keep the following points in mind when attending Mass:
- No special preparation or items are required other than a prayerful heart.
- Please refrain from unnecessary conversation inside the church and maintain a quiet atmosphere.
- Please make use of the provided pamphlets and hymnals for prayers and hymns. You may take the pamphlet home after Mass, but please be sure to return the hymnal to its original shelf.
- It does not matter if your pitch is off or if you are not a skilled singer; what matters is a prayerful heart, so please join in the singing.
- Please switch your mobile phone to silent mode or turn it off completely.
- Mass is an important ceremony for believers. Please avoid wearing flashy clothing or outfits that expose too much skin.
- Those who are not Catholic cannot receive Holy Communion, but you may receive a blessing from the priest. Please feel free to join the Communion line.
